Case Interview
On a mission to improve student preparation for interviews, I developed a guided Case Study Interview for students to use individually or be tested with.
The setup
As a student seeking an internship between computer science and data science, often along the lines of data analytics, I ran into case interviews all the time. As a student in Northeastern's Computer Science College, I hadn't been introduced to them. Assisting younger Computer Science students in their preparation and search for an internship through the Northeastern program, I was presenting classroom lessons with the professor and leading partnered meeting for students. I wanted to introduce case interviews to help students better understand their options, and better prepare for interviews. Although there are a number of similar examples online, I knew that our university fed many student interns into the same companies each semester. I decided to tailor a case study to my unique experience to test students on the specific skills I though they might encounter.
Results
I was able to present this type of interview to students and provide multiple practice interviews to individual students. It was uploaded as a resource available after I graduated.
Reflections
I would love to see what the interviews looked like now, and if my case interview is relevant. I think developing the resource is just as useful as practicing an interview, and I've used this method since then to help prepare.
